Pete--

Sounds like you are starting off right on your deck stripping, leaving the strip that mates to the hull flat. Also sounds like you would prefer to use square edged strips across the deck. Do you need a cove and bead on the second strip up? Is there a tough curve there? If all your other strips are square edges and you are going to be beveling them to fit, why not just put big bevels on the first few strips? and not bother cove & beading one pair of strips?
