: Sure does. I use a thumb-and-forefinger hold, and it seems about right, but I
: think I have my loom a little to square and that's forcing it square
: (otherwise it's uncomfortable in the grip.) I know, don't hang on so
: tight.

I usually make my looms the thickness of the blank f(~1 1/2") and 1 1/4" in the other dimension. I round over the narrow sides and leave a flat on the wide ones.

: I may well be reaching too far foreward. My euro stroke is long - and if
: anything, I shortened the end rather than the beginning. It seemed like I
: was lifting a lot of water with the GP at the end of the stroke. The exit
: seemed clean, but was with the blade fairly flat to the surface. Thought
: that couldn't be right, so I shortened the stroke to allow a more edge-on
: exit.

With a canted stroke, that little bit of lifting water actually produces more thrust. Greg makes it a point to demonstrate that you can move the boat using only the thrust created by pulling a canted blade straight out of the water. When paddling, you feel it as a "pop" at the end of the stroke.
