Thanks for the info. I'm lucky in that I have a form in just the right spot, so sizing it ought not be a problem. Maybe trim just a little for a compressed seal thickness, and done.
If it doesn't work out because of my hull shape, pull off the seal and glass the bugger in. Or maybe just silicone with the seal - for the stress-riser question.
