Unless the strips are perpendicular to the sheer line, you will end up with some misalignment in the pattern if you cut, then rejoin them, due to the loss of wood from the saw kerf. If you're going to do this, it would seem that your best bet would be to cut the strips first and install them in pieces. One other consideration is that hulls and decks frequently distort during glassing, requiring a lot of effort to get the hull and deck to mate afterward. You may not be able to realign the pattern precisely when joining the hull and deck.
