: Looking for information on spoke shavers or draw blades? Which one? web site
: search shows many different kinds. Anyone have a preference on which one
: to buy, looking forward to make some Greenland paddles. Thanks
Having never used a drawknife, I can not comment on those but a spokeshave is a wonderful tool. You can buy seperate shaves for convex, concave and flat surfaces or you can do as I did and buy a combination shave. Veritas makes a perty nice one. I have taught myself to use it with a fair amount of skill. Takes patience and attention to grain direction and angle of the tool as well as pressure. Once you become accustomed to those you can work magic with them. I made extensive use of mine in shaping my tools as well as my paddle. I love it.
