I always put padeyes inside my hatches - especially to tie the 10 liter water bladders in place if I don't have a full load - keeps me from worrying about the magnetic hatches getting popped open by gear shifting as well.

I've got some pictures on the camera but won't get them posted until tomorrow at the earliest. I use 1" plastic D-rings like would be used with nylon webbing, attached to the boat with carbon fiber brackets. I make up an 18" length of bracket material by laying up 3 or 4 layers of glass & CF in a mold. One side is a 1x4 with a 5/16" bullnosed groove routed down the centerline. The other side of the sandwich is a flat 1x4 holding a 1/4" dowel in the groove.

Don't know if the pp above is clear enough. Maybe it will work with tomorrow's pictures.
