: Layup: not sure here, 6oz + 4oz 'football" and dynel rub strips? Haven't
: looked into S glass too much

Probably 4 ounce in and out would do, and a football of an addtional 4 ounce glass. Why dynel rub strips if you are doing a football of glass? Either do the football of glass or dynel. I'd go with glass just to keep the inventory of materials down, and maybe hit a pricebreak with buying enough yards of glass fabric. The glass strips that join the hull to deck would serve as rub strips two or three layers thick along the widest part of the boat. No need to add more there.

I don't think you'ld need to worry about spending extra for S-glass. E-glass, even in 4 ounce thickness, is very strong stuff. Just do the 4 ounce layer and see if you like it. Paddle it for a while without adding varnish. Should it seem flimsy, add on another layer of 4 oune glass cloth. With two full layers of the 4 ounce glass you could forget the football. Overall you would have a total of 8 ounces of glass. Stronger, and you could shoot for that volume discount.

: Rudder: Yes, carbon fiber per Vaclav
: Footbraces: Yakima I 'spose, is there anything else out there?

Any intention of having your rudder pedals do double duty as footbraces ?

: VHF radio, flares, a Goretex drysuit and a Stohlquist PFD and I'd be ready to
: rock.

Umm, got a GPS? They are neat toys.
