Clamps are good friends. When you need a hand, or maybe 5 or 10 more hands they can really grip things :)

A piece of PVC pipe cut into short lengths, and then each piece slit open can provide many inexpensive clamps. Other clamps can be made from plywood or hardwood and bolts. Wingnuts make it fast to tighten these.
