In Response To: S&G: no sheer clamps? (dave williams)

I am currently building the S&G hybrid Night Heron.

On some boats like the CLC S&G boats the deck meets the sides in an angle where a sheer clamp makes sense.

On the Night Heron the angle that the deck meets the sides is quite steep
(greater that 135 degrees)in some places and a sheer clamp just will not work or I can't see how it would work.

I am nervous about that step but I still have many other hurdles before I get to that point. My hope is by the time I get there my confidence level will see it as just another problem in a line of them that I have already solved.

My only advice is take your time, plan it out and test if possible on some scap things before you go. I would also use the "blue" tape to tape the deck and hull together since I have heard it does not leave tape residue or at least less.

Hope this helps,

Chris Martin
