In regards to the sheer strip not being limber enough, I made special 3/8th in.wide strips for the transition area. They were able to roll between the vertical and horizontal planes with much less pressure required to thold in place. Plus I cut them out of contrasting colour material which looked kinda like pinstriping, very cool.
