: I am planning to purchase a grizzly 2hp dust collector and a 6" jointer.
: On the jointer I don't know if I should buy the grizzly for the price or
: the delta for the quality. Anyone know of any tool comparison sites.

I have the Powermatic 6" long bed jointer and it's a great tool. I have no problems at all with the machine. I love the longer bed, I think the longest bed on a 6" machine available. It makes all the difference in truing longer boards.

I purchased the new Jet Canister dust collector last fall and found it makes a huge difference in the amount of dust in the basement. I have low ceilings in my basement, so height is an issue. This collector is not as tall as the bag units. Additionally, the huge canister filter does a fine job at screening out alot of the smaller particulate. I do think a air cleaner would still be a good idea and is on my list of tools for christmas.

If you're concidering purchasing a jointer, you should also be considering a planer as well. Those two tools work together to turn rough lumber into finished boards. The Jointer squares an edge and a face and the planer then is used to dimension the squared boards to their final size.

I think that Grizzly also makes good tools. From what I've seen, the difference is in the quality of the finish and maybe some of the detail stuff. People I've spoken with who have purchased Grizzly seem to be pretty satisfied with their choice of equipment and if the resulting work is any indication, it does it's job well.
