Strip: sand smooth now or later

Dear folks, have just finished the 1st fill coat on my little boat and am aware that where I have an edge on the glass, for instance a second layer in the lay up (smaller pieces on the outside as per Nick's book)or where one of the glass threads has pulled away from the edge a bit there is a definite bump. Should I consider sanding that smooth now (being careful of the structural glass) or wait until after the final fill coat.
thanks
