: I am planning to build a strip kayak, but would like to test paddle a couple
: of models first. Is there anyone in CT that would let me take a short
: paddle, and possibly roll their Guillemot. I live in Oxford CT

Tom,
I used to live in Oxford, bought a condo in Naugatuck. At anyrate, you're in a great location to try a stripper - with the BBS being a good start!!!!
I'd do the following...
Contact Nick, maybe he'd know of an occaision soon where you could try his yaks first hand.
Look up CONNYAK online...just type it in any search engine. I'd have to believe a few people their have strippers they'd let you try out - and with enthusiastic support.
At anyrate, its too bad you missed MEET AT THE BEACH - loads of strippers. I tried out Nicks Expedition Single and S&G Night Heron. Tho it was a true pleasure to paddle the Exp. 19, the narrower Heron had this spritely rise to speed which caught me right off the bat. Im still surprised as heck its 20" beam is steadier than my 22" multichine! Dont let the narrower hull of the NH bring thoughts of a cafeinated initial stability - both yaks were pretty close.
Give Nick a call.
Pete
