Strip: routing problems

I'm routing 1/4" strips of wood---rounding off the edge and when i get to the end of the strip, the router takes a bigger gouge out of the strip..seems like when the piece of wood comes off of the fence and is only between the router bit and the feather board. it then gets pulled into the bit more than the previous part of the strip.
i've tried back routing and get the same result-i must be setting this up wrong.
what's up with that?
