I'm fortunate enough to have a plotter at work, so I decided to try Nick's technique for using EXCEL to do the lofting.

For the most part, it worked very well. The tricky bit was properly scaling the charts when they were plotted. I ended up creating a couple of VBA Macros to handle that.
