Hi. Question: Did you put a seal coat on your boat before glassing? I'm getting close to glassing and I'm wondering if I need to put down a seal coat first or not. It seems as if a seal coat would need to be sanded smooth prior to glassing. I put epoxy on the interior wood on my Chesapeake - no glass - and it's pretty bumpy - dust, etc., I imagine. I'm thinking that if I put a seal coat on I'd want to sand it pretty smooth prior to glassing, to prevent ripples, "floating places", bumps, snags, etc.

Any advice, anyone?

: Hello,

: I have just started glassing my Guillemot Expedition Single and have a few
: questions: The glass seems to have wetted out ok, but in some places it
: looks like small ripples of glass with the peaks floating off of the wood
: and the troughs lying on the wood. No air bubbles, but the glass does not
: look like it is sitting flat on the woood. I tried to push these ripples
: flat but to no avail. Is this a problem or will this "effect" be
: covered up with the fill coat that I am about to apply ? How could I try
: and avoid this in the future ?

: When I squeegeed the execess epoxy off the boat, I was not able to get a
: completly flat finish. Small ridges of epoxy remained on the boat. Again,
: will this "effect" be covered by the fill coat, or should I do
: something about it before I put the fill coat on ?

: Many thanks
: Ian
