The fun part of building a kayak for me is the deck decoration. I am not that orginal in my ideas and I use a combination of other builder's decorations. The picture is what I am getting close to choosing for my Shooting Star. The basic design is Rob Mack's which I find hard to beat. I have added a rams head that I used on my last yak inplace of Rob's Star and in the center deck I am using Ross Leidi's idea of using strips of cedar that run from a light red to white across 3/4 inch strips. I had a hard time finding any cedar like this at the lumber yards.
