Hi Larry, I can't help with the GP's but I have a few comments regarding the spokeshave. If you are using it "out of the box" you are probably just making dust. The blade needs to be honed razor sharp. Then the blade has to be adjusted with just a little protrusion from the sole of the tool. Then you will have to practice using it to find the right pressure , angle, speed and also you can use it to cut while either pushing away or while pulling it towards yourself. It's a fantastic tool but it takes some getting used to.
