I beveled the edge to initially make a sharp corner. I then rounded over the corner. I don't think one system is going to be substantially stronger than another. Beveling does take time, and the plywood dulls edge tools very quickly, but I think it is easier to align a beveled edge than an unbeveled edge. The beveled edge also makes a tighter seam which looks a little nicer, but that doesn't matter if you are going to paint.
