Aaron - I make a drawing of the important measurements , particularly coaming details as they are crucial for proper fit. I tend to use symmetrical rocker and now make all my kayaks with a flat rear deck.

Though this kayak paddles fine for lighter weight paddlers ( I built it for a 110 lb paddler) it is recommended to increase the beam for heavier paddlers . A 23 - 25" beam would be ok for most paddlers in the 150 - 180 lb range
