Of course you can! The real question is can you carry a kayak on that roof rack? (I have a 10' car - it'd be highly impractical to carry my 18' kayak on it!)

ps: oh, to answer the question in the subject... Well, what good does it do to make it sectional? The pieces wouldn't fit inside any better than they do outside!
