: I've been kickin' that idea around for a while also. I'm using a piece of
: 1/4" plywood for the seat bottom with a pedestal(also made of
: 1/4" ply) filleted and glassed to it. The Ply for the bottom is bent
: to conform to the shape of the hull. The seat, as well as the Schade style
: footrest slides on a rail - made of 1/4" ply which is epoxied to the
: bottom of my Guillemot "L". Everything is attached to the rail
: with 1/4" teenuts and knobs. The only problem I see at the moment
: (other than the fact that my lower back is giving me so much grief that I
: haven't done much lately) is that the foot brace will "creep"
: forward on you if you put too much pressure against them - maybe some
: locator pins in the foot rest assembly. Under normal paddling they work
: fine.

: The seat is adjustable for and aft and the backrest can be adjusted from ~1
: 1/2" above the lip to as low as just below the rear deck. With the
: backrest lowered all the way, the seat can be slid rearward till the
: backrest is under the rear deck and I can lean back against the coaming.
: The seat and footrest are easily removed from the boat for cleaning.

: My wife and I did get out on the Santa Fe River last weekend for a while to

Great ideas. Ideally the seat, backband and foot braces would all move together. However they all would have to adjust individually on this sliding platform. I not sure the weight and complexity is worth it. More brainstorming is required. I gotta figure it out the deck is on my kayak. Back to the boat garage.
