Hi Sandra -

I wouldn't worry about patching it at first. Those spots aren't necessarily too thin unless they're noticeably soft or they leak. Why not float it and see if there's any leaks? Press with your fingers against a "thin" spot, then against a spot that looks just fine. If they feel the same, don't worry about it. Check along the keel for cracks or fractures. The keel runs from the tip at the front (bow) of the kayak, down the center of the bottom of the hull and back up to the rear tip (stern). If there's no cracks, serious soft spots, or leaks...then you're just dealing with cosmetic appearance.

What's the brand of the boat? It looks like there's a name on the fore deck.
