I don't think that all the wood boats being built around the world are a threat to the forests of the world. The threat comes from other sources. In many cases it is simply that people want the area cleared for other purposes...so they cut the trees down and burn them. True...we as a species should be responsible in managing and harvesting resources of the world, but the key is to make it economically viable to do so. Even today in the US you can see resources wasted every day because it is not viable to save them. Is there an answer. Sure...I just don't know what it is. I'm going to continue to do my part in saving our resources by responsibly building boats from material that would otherwise be wasted...or used for some congressman's humidor.
