I "stole" all of Rob's ideas here, an can only say that he's just about right in all of his points, although, speaking as a total beginner in stripping, all is not quite as easy, as he likes it to be :-)

I strip WRC and have found that beveling lengths of 30-90cm's at a time, and then checking for a tight fit, works just fine.
Although i have been afraid of making the bevel too steep, which has resulted in some gaps at the bow and stern.

Be very careful not to plane anything off the thickness of the outside of the strip, when doing the bevel, as this will show clearly, when the strip is mounted.
