Like the other folks on the board have stated, with the Morris and cunningham books you will have all the knowledge needed to build many fine kayaks. However it's not as easy as you think, there will be challenges and you will need patience. I also build bows, both from staves and laminated long bows, you will find some of the proccess very similar between the two. For instance, You must choose the correct wood! Choose the wrong wood in a bow and its bound to snap on the tillering tree, choose the wrong wood on a SOF kayak and you might end up with a funny looking banana. Building a bow has individual steps that must be followed just like a SOF kayak but the kayak just takes longer. If you think you are going to whip out a kayak in a day don't bother starting. if you have the patience to stick with it. GO FOR IT.
