: I suspect you have exactly what you are describing: a strip of fiberglasss
: cloth which was cut from a wider woven panel, and the edges were stitched
: (this could have been before or after the strip was cut) with nylon,
: polyester or fibeglass thread to keep it from unraveling.
: Is the weave on your tapes straight in line with the length of the strip, and
: at right angles to the strip, or do the fibers run diagonally along the
: length of the strip? If the fibers go diagonally then what you have are
: bias cut tapes, which are poplular beause they go around curves a bit
: better.
: PGJ
Paul;
This tape isn't bias cut. The weave runs at right angles to the length.
The center 1" of the tape is very open weave (about 6oz.) Then there is an 1/8" of tight weave , (looks like ribbon). then 1/8" loseweave loop with one fine thread through the loops. Both edges are the same.
The tape will shape like bias cut cloth but the edges are smooth and do not unravel.
Hope this description is clear. If you can't find out where it's from, no one can!!
Regards Terry
