Rehd, I have 5/4 stock.

Rick, I got the redwood as a gift from a friend.

Sing, I too liked the straight grain, no knots, long length and rot resistance.

So I guess I am going ahead with the redwood gunwales. I will post how it is coming along. But first I have to re-do our bedroom. Do you think an Inuit who found a long, straight, knot free redwood board washed up on the beach would work on a bedroom?
