Hello Eric,

My Atlantic is such a pleasure to paddle in rough seas and heavy winds. I was worried about the high deck being a problem in wind, but it's a charm. I would like to see more shots of the bluefin and I would like to know how it compares in design to the Atlantic. It appears to have a hollow bow like the Atlantic, but perhaps not as much volume to the bow. I love the way my Atlantic cuts a wave and then the buoyancy in the bow takes over and lets it ride over the wave. I was trying to find more pics of the Bluefin on your website, but the link takes you to the Widgeon page.

The only thing on the Atlantic that I might change if doing it again would be to lower the rear deck just slightly. I didn't do that because I wanted high volume for expeditions, but I'm only 5'7", and I could use more room to lean back. It appears that's what you did with the bluefin. I don't have time to run out and measure my kayak, but if you lowered it an inch or two from the Atlantic I think that would be fine.

I'd love to see a profile view for a better idea of the rocker, the waterline lenghth, and the volume of the bow and stern. Also how does she compare to the Merganser? She seems to have more chines than the Merganser.

I'd say let folks put a rudder for tracking. What about a keel/rudder like the Oystercatcher? I had a hard time deciding between the Atlantic and the Oystercatcher. It seems to me the Bluefin is a marriage of the two. Is that a correct assumption?

Good luck and let's see more pics of that beautiful boat!

Cheers,

Malcolm
