In Response To: Paddle: Linseed Oil- Drying Time? (Steve Phillips)

Steve,
My most recent linseed oil use was on frame of my son's SOF. Seems as if it was pretty much dry in 24 hours, but obviously with your differing conditions and material your results may vary. If you haven't done it yet, I always give the paddle a couple of good soakings & re-sanding to raise the grain and smooth out again -- I think one ends up with a better finish this way.

By the way, what paddle length & blade width did you decide on?

: Hey, gang-
: I just finished my son's Greenland Paddle, and I'm planning to use some
: boiled linseed oil- (I've had this can for over 20 years- it looks and
: smells normal) and I'm wondering how long it'll take to dry in my
: reasonably warm and dry garage. Any thoughts? Many thanks! Steve
