Avoid the Raka 5 oz cloth. It was on my second boat. I have lots of places with weave showing through. I'm now working on a paint pattern to creatively cover the horrible weave and still let lots of wood show. We shouldn't have to work this hard to get a nice looking boat.

I had other problems, too. The cloth is pretty stiff. On a Merganser 17 I had lots of wrinkles I could not get out. I ended up cutting out dried, wrinkled, cured glass and making 14 patches on the boat.

And, even after getting further instructions from Larry, and making sure the patches were well soaked before applying, I still had spots of white cloth in the cured patches.

It was my second boat. My first had no such problems, and wasn't using Raka materials.

To make matters worse, I had bought enough 5 oz. glass to make four boats. I wanted to exchange the cloth for regular weave 6 oz. and Larry wouldn't make the exchange. He just offered a few yards of 6 oz. for free.

I suggest everyone avoid buying 5 oz. cloth from Raka. I know I won't buy any more.

And, if anyone out there has success with it, I have a bunch you can buy cheap.
