Some forward lacing was added for convenience, 2x5 brass grommits, velcro, 3mm shock cord (4mm didn't work). This theatrical opening shows the cockpit end of the forward deckbeam.
It is fitted with a L-shaped steel fitting that comes down into a female fitting. Actually, the female fitting is a simple steel strip screwed at both ends parallel to the wood fwd coaming station, through brass washers used as spacers to obtain a slot.
The nylon clamps snap on the smaller diameter interior tube (15mm instead of 18mm) forced into the long tubes.
That makes the coaming a take-apart feature.
The rear kayak half is collapsed.
