RUN away from that "deal" and buy yourself a Pygmy kit. Don't waste your time fixing up some else's mistakes. Fixing wear 'n tear, dings, scratches, etc. is one thing. Poor workmanship is something altogether different. Just the fact that the owner expects $900 for what you're describing sends up warning flags. The shoddy workmanship you describe would make me VERY concerned about the problems you can't see.

I've built 2 Pygmy boats, the Tern 17' was my first build ever. The instructions are great, and it's a wonderful project for a first-time builder. You already know you like the boat!
