Jay,

I have built two Cohos and would highly recommend you get one. Besides preventing scraped knuckles, the 4-piece chamfered deck was designed to give more foot room than a one-piece bent/cambered deck. Also the Coho went through a thorough design/evaluation process and the design has stood the test of time. I think somewhere I read that for most of the Pygmy designs (not the little Tern 14) John Lockwood allows for size 12 shoes. On their Artic Tern web page they say it will accommodate size 12 shoes. On their Coho web page they just mention an adequate 12 inches of foot clearance. I have not put the foot rests in the 2nd boat yet (the first one was stolen) but I can measure the clearance if you need it.

Regards,
Steve Pituch
