You might try putting it back on the forms and shrik wrapping it. Most marinas are well equipped to do this. If you use a roof rack, you may have to come up with a cleaver way to tie the bow and stern.
Think about taking the Mass pike to I88, then down to I81, then to I77 and finally, I85. This will give you a lot less traffic and you can generally go at your own pace.
