if you're talking about the deck/hull seam then the joint is wood/thickened epoxy/glass. THere's nothing to protect. You do the inside joint, round over the outside then glass the deck and overlap the hull an inch. If there's so much plywood exposed on the roundover then you can paint a sheer strip or simply ignore it. Dynel cord has no application there. It's an ablative material.
