Thanks for all the good advice. By ablative you mean that it's there to rub off while protecting the underlying wood? That's why I was going to put the dynel on--because the boat will be constantly scraping up against barnacle infested piers and this is the outermost joint on the boat. Do you think this is overkill (I was thinking it was a cheap way to reduce future maintenance costs)?

: if you're talking about the deck/hull seam then the joint is wood/thickened
: epoxy/glass. THere's nothing to protect. You do the inside joint, round
: over the outside then glass the deck and overlap the hull an inch. If
: there's so much plywood exposed on the roundover then you can paint a
: sheer strip or simply ignore it. Dynel cord has no application there. It's
