i used a table saw and didnt have a band saw at the time. i just bought a band saw and it was perfect for making the paddle and cutting the curves for the cockpit combing, but would have been awefull slow for cutting strips. it also leaves more saw marks than the table saw so planing would have been worse.

i would use a tablesaw everytime, unless you have acces to a very large bandsaw that has a milling blade (very wide for straight cuts) then mabey it would make sence because you would get more strips from the lumber with the smaller kerf of a band blade.
