When exposed to sunlight, WRC will get lighter and AYC will get darker - as a general rule. Given that the wood will be under layers of UV protectant varnish, the colours may change more slowly. You will also find that some varnishes darken the wood - some more than others. So what is likely is that several coats of varnish will darken your pine blush cedar more than the wetted shade you see. If you are finding the cedar too light, after 'glassing and varnishing, you can always add some tint to additional coats of varnish to darken the boat overall. Do this on a test piece first!! It's tough to undo. There's no CRTL +Z in boat building
: Does cedar get darker? My strips are what I would call a 'pine blush', and I
: was wondering if they will darken up at all or if anyone has ever used Lye
: to age them, or any other similar product.
: Thanks!
