Betsie Bay uses a pry-out Beckson hatch with the original wood hatch cutout glued to the hatch lid--it looks great.

: Aloha, all,
: I'm building a stripped Hawaiian outrigger sailing canoe. It has decks fore
: and aft with watertight bulkheads supporting inboard ends of the decks.
: Will serve as flotation and dry storage. I'm looking for deck plates with
: watertight access port 6-8 inches in diameter. I've found only plastic
: deckplates and hate the idea of plastic on my all wooden canoe. Any ideas
: about sources of wood-finish deck plates or how I can make them myself?
