: I am about to start my first boat and have choosen the Guillemot. The
: material I will be using is primarily Western Red Cedar but the thickness
: of the boards I have access to is 11/16" thick rather than 3/4".
: Is this too thin? If I want to use the bead and cove method for my strips
: will I be losing a significant amount of the "width" of my
: already thin strips in the milling process? Any advice on these questions
: would be appreciated.

Having done the first dozen of strips on my Expedition Single, i would gladly have gone for strips somewhat "narrower" than 3/4". 12-15mm would have been nice for stripping the stern/bow sections and also the chine.
I beleive that bow/stern/chine would have been easier and faster to trip with the narrower strips, so what you loose in width/more strips you gain in time when doing the stripping itself.
In the end i actually went for thinner strips too, so my dimensions are 18mm by 5,5mm (pls recalculate to inches yourself :-)
