Hi Ken, take the money you would spend fixing up your workshop and get something nice for your wife; it will take you further toward your next boat project than any of the above :D

For rewiring, you could install quad boxes and put one circuit on all the left-hand plugs and a second circuit on all the right-hand plugs. That way you can minimize extension chords even more. I did that in a loft once. If I remember correctly, it means you need one additional hot lead; they can share a ground... you might want to check local codes/a real electrician on that :)
