: are there colored captains varnish?
: or can varnish be tinted?
Please see the link below. I highly recommend this book. It is written for hobby woodworkers and does not discuss epoxy or polyester (which does not adhere well to wood anyway) finishes, however, it is a great reference to have when using any kind of wood finishes and stains. While it does not completely apply to boatbuilders, there is a lot of overlap, IMHO, that does apply especially when it comes to staining wood and/or adding coloring to a varnish. I wish I could provide another source that you did not need to go out an purchase, however, IMHO the book is the best source of info. on wood finishes available.
Disclaimer:
I own a copy of this book and I am satisfied with the info. given in it, however, I have no other relationship or links (remote or otherwise) to the author or publishing company. Nor am I endorsing purchasing this book through Amazon, I recommend looking locally first (I found my copy either in Home Depot or Borders), mostly use Amazon to find out info. on books for either myself or, by posting links directly to the books, to help others (like in this reply).
