Glass the deck without doubt! Whether you do it in 6 oz, which will add maybe a bit more then a pound, or 4 oz, which will be maybe just under a pound, the strength increase will be much stronger for the weight addition. After all, you'll probably have several pounds of water along to drink, what a pound more for a stronger deck? If it was me, I'd do it in 6 oz, then a bit of 4 oz around the hatches and cockpit for strength for those times of ungainly entrances and exits when nothing goes right (but only seems to happen when everyone is watching).
