As a footnote, I found the site while trying to answer my own dust collection problems after moving my operation into an enclosed shop. The dust problem got serious quickly. I have built the cyclone and blower outlined on Bill's site and am amazed at its power. I also found the process interesting and like the fact that I know the parts and pieces inside and out. What is truly amazing about Bill's cyclone is its ability to extract almost all of the dust out of the airstream down to the fine, flour-like stuff that coats most shops that use filter bags. My return outlet into the shop is filtered by a 36" x 12.5" pleated paper filter rated down to .5 microns. I have emptied the 55gal drum a dozen or so times thus far and have yet to find a need to clean out the filter. Cool stuff. I plan to install an air cleaner in the next few weeks to catch any errant dust, but you really need to collect at the source so that your lungs aren't participating in the clean-up along with the air scrubbers. Bill also reviews some of the bagged collectors including the canister version from JET and offers some upgrades and modifications, but I believe that you will eventually gravitate toward a cyclone system. With that in mind, a lot of people gear their purchase of a bagged collector toward using the parts eventually in a cyclone. This pretty much means that you need to go with the bigger impellers and subsequently larger HP motors to turn them. Again, all explaned in Bill's website. Good luck and good health!
