I saved a couple of jpegs of your test skin back in March - are these
among the ones you've lost ? I can mail them back if so.

I'm presuming that these were digital pics, as with film you always have
the originals to scan again. The nature of electronic storage always makes
me even more paranoid about digital pics than I used to be about scanned
film. I now copy photos to four different hard discs on four different
machines in two different buildings *before* deleting them from the camera.
Then as soon as I have 500 M or so of photos that I haven't previously cut
to CD, I build an iso image, cut a CD-RW to check that everything is OK,
then cut two CD-R, both to be stored in buildings different from where my
computers are. This is to avoid common-mode failures (eg. where all the
backup copies are in the same building that burns down).

It's not fool proof, but so far it has stood me in adequate stead through
hard disc failures and accidentally overwriting an original with an edited
version of a photo...
