: Getting ready for my winter strip-built project, The King. Bought some white
: cedar boards (1"x10"x10')today at a real good price from a local
: sawmill. I was told the tree was cut down less than a week ago. Here's the
: dilemma, the boards are very green. Has anybody encountered a similar
: experience with green wood?
: My question is: 1. Is it okay to cut the strips 1st and leave them in the
: garage to air dry,
: 2. or is it alright to air dry the boards on the deck
: 3. or do I need to keep it in the garage and away from the cold for
: temperature consistency?
: ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE APPRECIATED!

Lee I cut some cedar strips from a board that was air dried for a year.I taped the strips into packages of 15 and left them for about a month. When I went to use them some of them were alright but some bent like a snake when I took the tape off. I don't know a good answer for you, just what I had happen to me. My strips where kept inside my work shop on racks that support them the full lenght of the strip.Good Luck
