I also used wet cedar (Northern white). It was fairly green (less than a month since cutting), rough sawed, and still had a lot of water in it. I planed it down and cut it into strips and have had no problems. Make sure that you get the strips spread out after you cut them so they can dry well. I was worried that if I didn't get them spread then they would discolor unevenly as they dried.

Hope this helps, I haven’t strips out my new boat yet, but the strips are all dry after cut a couple weeks in the garage where it’s been 40-80°F.
