Hi Julie. It is an obscure but effective method... maybe not for your first glass job or even for an entire hull but it is a good way to lay glass. It works well on the tight-weave glass I use; I haven't tried it on other weaves.

Most builders pour the epoxy out over the fabric and then spread it around with brushes, etc. It works okay but the epoxy tends to pool under the fabric and it can be hard to remove it - the fabric will "float". The way I mentioned will tend to absorb the epoxy like a paper towel - eliminating the pools. Note, glassing an entire hull this way would be a frustrating experience and I wouldn't recommend it. You might try your seam tape that way.
