I agree that the simplest way would be to find someone with a bandsaw mill and have them mill the logs for you. I own a woodmizer and my standard *rate* for milling on site is 30% of the production, and I have a 1000 b.f. minimum. Chainsaw milling is best for reducing very large logs into cants that can be handled and milled on the typical portable bandsaw mills. Shouldn't be hard to find someone who can do the work for you, and it likely won't cost anything out of pocket.
: Woodmizers are cool. Looked into buying one about 15 years ago. At the time
: they sent out a video on how they worked. It was the single most boring
: video I've ever watched. It was so bad that it became a big joke at our
: house to pump up anyone that came over and make them sit and watch the
: video. Several fights erupted.
: Last year we did hire a local party to come over and mill some boards for us.
: He showed up with a Woodmizer. His had an attachment for lifting the full
: length logs onto the bed for cutting. Worked really well and the saw has a
: thin kerf blade so little was wasted. After the boards air dried they and
: were used in remodeling the house.
